Who we are

This website

matchtrail.app uses no cookies, no advertising and no tracking. Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks. If you leave your email address for the launch list, we store it together with the language you chose and the date, only to send you one email when Matchtrail launches. After that message we delete the list. You can ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing [email protected].

What stays on your phone

Your check-ins, tickets, plans, shirts and photos are stored on your phone. Without an account, we do not receive them at all. A backup file you make is yours; we never see it.

Accounts and sync

Making an account (email and password) is optional; the app keeps working fully without one. If you make one, your tickets, check-ins (including imported ones), visit notes, plans, shirts, wishlist and settings are also stored on our server in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany), so you can log in on a new phone and have everything back. Photos always stay on your phone and are never uploaded. Your password is stored by our authentication provider (Supabase) in a form we cannot read. Only you can read or change your own synced data; the database itself enforces this. You can ask us for a copy of everything at any time and delete your synced data at any time (Settings > Account > Delete my account). Deleting the app or losing your phone does not delete your account.

Location

Your location is used only on your phone: to recognise the ground you are at when you check in, and to sort matches by distance. It is not sent to us or anyone else.

Data the app fetches

The app downloads fixtures, results and tables from football data services and loads club crest images from the addresses those services provide. Those servers see your IP address, like any website.

Notifications

Match reminders and goal alerts are scheduled by your phone itself. No push service is involved.

Reports

When you correct a match, add one by hand or tell us something is wrong, that report is sent to us: the match it is about, what was wrong, your correction, an anonymous device id, the app version and your phone's language. Never your name, email or phone number. It is stored in the EU (Frankfurt) and used only to fix our data and improve the app. Corrections may be shared the same way so that, once several phones agree or we check it, the fix reaches every fan; the device id is never shown to other fans. Turning off anonymous usage stats in Settings stops this sharing.

Age

Matchtrail is for people aged 16 and over.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to your data protection authority. Without an account, almost everything is on your device and deleting the app deletes it. With an account, use Delete my account in Settings > Account, or contact us at [email protected] for a copy or anything else.

Changes

If we add payments or other new features that use personal data, we will update this policy before they go live and tell you in the app.
